We had an appointment with a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist on 1-15 because our previous ultrasound indicated that Mikayla's lateral ventricles (in her brain) were at the upper range of normal (ventriculomegaly). The specialist confirmed that the ventricles looked fine and likely just represent an upper variation of normal for a fetus at this stage of development. So, everything seems fine! As an added benefit, they generated a short 3D ultrasound video of Mikayla's face. The video is short, but you can easily see her face and her hand waving in front of her face. We will be having a longer 3D ultrasound performed in April that should give an even better picture of what Mikayla will look like when she enters the world in June. So stay tuned!
